Define Connections

Connections represent the interactions between different components in your assembly.

Note: The Define Connections action applies only to models consisting of an assembly of components. Simulation on assemblies is available only with a license for the DesignSight Structure Plus product.

Simulation Features

The following simulation feature can be defined in the Define Connections action:

Bonds
A bond permanently attaches a surface on one component to a surface on another component.

To create connections between components, the components must meet certain proximity requirements. For a detailed description of the proximity requirements, see Requirements for Creating Bonds.

Warning: Connections can be created only between different parts or representations. You cannot define connections between two bodies from the same part or representation.

Status Criteria

To complete the Define Connections action, each active component in the assembly must be involved in at least one connection. The completed status does not ensure that all of the components in your assembly are interconnected. If a portion of your assembly is not connected to another portion of your assembly, the simulation will fail.
