A torque definition consists of three components:

  • the direction (defined by the orientation of the robot);
  • the transmission surface (defined by the selected part face); and
  • a specified magnitude.
Important: Changing the location of the robot has no effect on torque loads.

A torque may represent a region of your model that gets twisted during normal usage, or it may indicate a region that contacts another spinning component in your assembly. In the wheel example the axle normally spins freely inside the steering knuckle. However, you may want to investigate what happens if the axle sticks or siezes inside the knuckle. In this event, the axle would deliver a torque load on the knuckle at the contacting surfaces.
