Installing 3D XML Modelica Libraries in the Dynamic Behavior Modeling Workbench

When installing the Dynamic Behavior Modeling product, administrators must import the 3D XML files containing the Modelica behavior libraries.

Numerous Modelica libraries are provided with Dynamic Behavior Modeling. Some are free to use, some need dedicated licenses (seeModelica Libraries).

The more useful library is the Modelica Standard Library provided with the version 3.2.

The 3D XML files are stored in the install repository (example: \intel_a\resources\3DXMLData\ModelicaStandardLibraries_3_2.3dxml).

Warning:

  • To update installed libraries, the process is identical. In a batch mode, do not forget to select the Import as Reference option. If you do not select this option, the imported libraries will be duplicated.
  • Administrators should update the imported libraries every time a new CATIA version is installed. This ensures that users access the last version of these libraries.

This task shows you how to:

Import With CATIA

Import a Modelica library using the CATIA commands.

Repeat this scenario for every library to be imported.

  1. Select PLM Access > Import > 3D XML from the menu bar.

The 3D XML Import dialog box appears.

  2. Select the 3D XML file.

  3. Deselect the Import as new option.

  4. Click OK to close the dialog box and import the library.

  5. Change the maturity for all imported object and give a maturity level that cannot be modified (Frozen or, Shared, depending on your customization).

Important: The maturity status is not customized in the 3D XML file.

Import With Batch

Import a Modelica library using a batch.

Repeat this scenario for every library to be imported.

  1. Use the CATBatchStarter batch as described in the Infrastructure User's Guide (Importing 3D XML Files > Batch Importing 3D XML Files.

  2. Select the 3D XML file.

  3. Select the Import as Reference option.

  4. Change the maturity for all imported object and give a maturity level that cannot be modified (Frozen or, Shared, depending on your customization).

Important: The maturity status is not customized in the 3D XML file.

Check the Libraries Import

Once the library import is successfully completed, you can check that the Modelica library is imported only once and with the proper maturity level.

  1. Open a CATIA session.

  2. From the PLM Search field, type dbl:*

The Search window appears and lets you check that the Modelica libraries have been properly imported.
