Filtering a Catalog or Chapter in the Catalog Editor

This task explains how to filter a catalog in the Catalog Editor.

If a catalog contains a large number of entities, one of the most effective ways of finding the entities you need is to narrow the selected objects by means of the keywords you initially used to create the catalog.

  1. Select a catalog or chapter.

  2. Click Catalog Filter or, in the tree, right-click the chapter or catalog and select Catalog (Chapter) > Filter.

The Catalog Filter dialog box appears. The results displayed in the right-hand section of the dialog box will display the entire content of the Catalog or Chapter if no conditions have been defined. Note that as you add conditions to the filter, the results are immediately modified accordingly.

  3. To display only Chapters, deselect the Items checkbox or to display only Items, deselect the Chapters checkbox.

  4. To activate recursive display mode, click Recursive Mode Deactivated .

The mode will change to Recursive mode. All keywords recursively inherited by a Chapter or Item will be available in the keyword selection list accordingly.

  5. To activate direct display mode, click Recursive Mode Activated .

The mode will change to Direct mode. Only keywords directly in a Chapter will be available in the keyword selection list.

  6. To load a previously-saved filter, see Opening a Saved Query.

  7. To construct a filter, see Constructing a Filter.

  8. To save a filter as a persistent query, see Saving a Filter.
