Creating a Design Table Based on a File Created Before V6R2011

You can create a design table using a pre-existing file. A design table is a feature that you create using your document parameters or external data. No matter the existence of external data, the design table must created in CATIA. You can create a design table using the current parameter values or a pre-existing file.


Before you begin: From the Tools > Options menu, select General > Parameters and check Allow the user to retrieve the representations

Creating a Design Table from a Pre-existing File
  1. In Excel or in your text editor, create a table containing the following columns:

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
    7 7.5 FALSE
      7.29 TRUE
      15  
      32  

  2. Click Design Table in the Knowledge toolbar. The Creation of a Design Table dialog box is displayed. Enter a name (DesignTable1 for example) and a comment. Click OK.

    A dialog box is displayed indicating that you are about to create a Design Table pointing to a Representation.

  3. Click Yes.

    The Object Selection dialog box is displayed.

  4. Click Import.

    The Representation DS dialog box is displayed.

  5. Click Finish and OK.

  6. Click Yes in the Automatic Associations dialog box.

    A multi-row design table is created. The '<' and '>' symbols show the current configuration.
