Creating a Design Table from a Pre-existing File

You can create a design table using a pre-existing file. A design table is a feature that you create using your document parameters or external data. No matter the existence of external data, the design table must be created in CATIA. You can create a design table using the current parameter values or a pre-existing file.

Before you begin:
  1. In Excel or in your text editor, create a table containing the following columns:

    Column 1 Column 2 Column 3
    7 7.5 FALSE
      7.29 TRUE
      15
      32

  2. Click Design Table in the Knowledge toolbar. The Creation of a Design Table dialog box is displayed. Enter a name (DesignTable1 for example) and a comment.

  3. Check Create a design table from a pre-existing file. Click OK. The Design table source representation creation or selection is displayed.

  4. Click the From File tab and click Import.

  5. Select the .xls or .txt file you have just created and click Open. The Document / Document customized dialog box opens. Enter the name, click Finish, and OK

A dialog box asks you whether you want to perform automatic associations between the design table columns and the document parameters which have the same name.

  6. Click Yes

A multi-row design table is created. The '<' and '>' symbols show the current configuration.

Note: Design Table (.xls or .txt) sheets can be edited from the Search results window.
