Opening Objects from a Navigation Window

You can select the V6 references and representations to open from a Navigation window using the Open Advanced... command.

Before you begin:
  • You cannot open non-V6 objects.
  • You cannot open an object created using V6 if its name contains national characters or forbidden special characters. For a reminder, see About Filenames.
  • When a filter or a configuration is applied, only the filtered references are taken into account, not the filtered representations. All the representations will be opened whatever the filter applied to the representations. The defined filter (if any) is taken into account when the structure is expanded.
  • Visualization filters are not taken into account.
  1. From a Navigation window, select the objects you want to open (you can select multiple objects).

  2. Click Open Advanced in the VPM Navigator toolbar.

    Tip: You can also
    • Press Ctrl+Shift+O
    • Or, right-click the object then select Open Advanced...
    • Or, select PLM Access > Open > Open Advanced....

  3. Select the options to be applied.

Important: The values set for the options displayed in this dialog box are stored in preference files. Therefore, if you modify the default values, you will recover them next time you run the Open Advanced... command.

  4. Click OK to validate and close the Open Advanced dialog box.

The selected objects open according to the selected options.

  • Without any representation is selected:

  • With 3D Shape representations is selected:

  • With all representations is selected:

Note that if you select several part instances, all their children are open:

  • Example with With 3D Shape representations selected:

Important:
  • If you select a terminal node and if the node is a representation, it opens with its 3D Shape representation, even if Without any representation is selected.
  • If you select a terminal node with With 3D Shape representation selected, the 3D Shape representation of the father product and the intermediate 3D Shape representations of the part instances are open.
