Propagating

You can use a short or a long transaction mode to propagate objects. In short mode, some commands commit the modifications or create the objects in the database as soon as the command is completed (e.g. when clicking OK). The long mode is when using PLM Access > Propagate, or Propagate in the Bar. Examples of commands in long transaction mode are lock/unlock, transfer ownership, changing maturity status, creating folders/catalogs and changing description from a Navigation window.

  1. Click Propagate in the Bar (or use Ctrl+S).

All the new and modified objects are directly propagated to the database without displaying the Propagate dialog box.

  2. Optional: Make the necessary changes in the Propagate dialog box.

The Propagating Objects dialog box opens only if an update has been performed or if an error occurs.

Warning: If an error occurs, the Propagate dialog box opens to let you solve the problem but in that case, the Lock column is not displayed for performance reasons. To display this column, use Ctrl+Shift+S or select PLM Access > Propagate....
