Functional Tolerancing and Annotation File-based Design Import

This document provides information about the migration of a V5 CATPart or CATProduct containing Functional & Tolerancing Annotation features, when the FBDI process does not isolate the links.

When the Always deactivated option is selected, see Link Isolation, links are isolated.

Also refer to the File-based Design Import User's Guide, it provides global and useful information about the V5/V6 migration process.

Important:

Functional & Tolerancing Annotation (FT&A) features contained in CATProcess type document are not imported.

Note:

If you are a DS Passport customer, you can read the the QA00000005763 article from the Knowledge Base for more information about assembly annotation import.

Feature Types Version 5 Version 6
Geometry for 3D Annotations Constructed geometry Constructed geometries created before V5 R14 cannot be imported.
Note Object Attribute Note Object Attribute (NOA) from Ditto Imported if the document containing the ditto is accessible, otherwise isolated.
Text Text with attribute links Imported but isolated.
Deviation Deviation Not imported.
Correlated Deviation Not imported.
Distance between two points Not imported.
FT&A in CATProduct Annotation Set Annotation Set under a product is migrated in a non-typed representation, representation itself created in a new product under the same product. Important: new product reference and instance names respect the V6 naming convention.
FT&A features They are linked with product instances through imported geometries located in an External link node. This node is located under the representation containing the Annotation Set. These imported geometries are imported As result with link. An engineering connection corresponding to a list of pointed instances according to one or several FT&A features is created under each related instances and under the product, for PLM compliancy.
FT&A feature link with a constructed geometry. Not imported.
FT&A feature link with another FT&A feature. Not imported.
Capture link with a CATPart instance. Not imported.
