Inserting Catalogued Work Instructions

You can add specific work instructions to a catalog and reuse those work instructions in other operations. Cataloging and then inserting a work instruction is preferable to copying a work instruction on the PPR tree because it enables you to retain full Work Instruction Planning functionality. See Authoring a Catalog.

Before you begin: Create a catalog chapter containing work instructions you wish to reuse in other PPR Contexts. Open the Work Instructions Planning workbench with the system in which you wish to insert the catalogued work instructions.
  1. Select the operation in the system in which you wish to insert the catalogued work instructions.

  2. Select Tools > Catalog Browser.

  3. Open the correct chapter (e.g., Template Chapter 2).

  4. Right-click on the desired item and select Use Item > Insert as copy.

The copied work instruction appears in the list.

  5. Click on the work instruction to modify it.

The work instruction has been inserted. The inserted work instruction is a copy of the one in the catalog. If you change the inserted work instruction after insertion, those changes are not reflected in the cataloged version. Similarly, changes to the catalogued version are not reflected in this version.
