Showing Attached Documents

When you are navigating your product structure you can expand the structure with or without representations (CATIA documents). All other documents are displayed in the tree by request using the Show Attached Documents command, or in the Parts Properties. Alternatively, you can customize the expand in order to automatically show all of the documents when expanding VPM Navigator tree. In this scenario all the documents attached to a particular assembly will be displayed in the VPM Navigator Tree.

Show Documents in the Tree

This task shows you how to view all associated documents in the tree.

  1. Search for an existing object in VPM Navigator.

  2. Find the assembly containing the document and using the contextual menu, click Document > Show Attached Documents . The attached documents for the product, or the part instance are displayed in the VPM Navigator product structure tree.



    Tip: For large product structures, you may find it useful to use the Select Under command to quickly locate the product or instance containing the document.

    Note: Some nodes of the tree could contain a '.' instead of a '-', thereby indicating a partially expanded node, meaning a node for which some children are visible but not all of them.

Show Documents in Part Properties

This task shows you how to view all associated documents in the part properties. Documents, specifications manuals, etc are linked directly to the part they correspond to. The attached documents to your product structure allow you to save time when navigating data.

  1. Expand the VPM Navigator tree.



  2. Right-click a part and select Properties . The Properties window appears.



  3. To see the Associated Documents tab, click More.... The Associated Documents tab is displayed in the Properties window.

  4. Select the Associated Documents tab. The documents attached to the selected part are displayed.
