Creating a Beam Using Two Points

You can create a beam by defining two points.


Before you begin: Open the structure to place a beam. For the purpose of this scenario create two points at X=0mm, Y=0mm, Z=0mm and X=0mm, Y=5000mm, Z=0mm.

  1. Click Beam in the Authoring Object toolbar.

    The Beam dialog box appears.

  2. in the Category list, select Beam.

  3. In the Type list, select Point to Point.

  4. In 3D session, select two points.

    This defines the direction of the beam.

  5. By default, the beam is limited at two selected points. To change the limits, define the start and end in the Limits area.

    1. In the Start box, select Long.1 plane.
    2. In the End box, select Long.6 plane.

The beam is created.

Note: To get the required orientation,

  • You can use the Swap Ends manipulator, if the limits are not set.
  • You can use Delete , Snap to Reference Plane and Offset if the limits are set.
