Creating a Beam Using a Curve

You can create a beam by using a curve.


Before you begin: Open the structure to place a beam. For the purpose of this scenario create a semicircle with center at X=0mm, Y=0mm, Z=0mm and radius=5000mm on XY plane.

  1. Click Beam in the Authoring Object toolbar.

    The Beam dialog box appears.

  2. In the Category list, select Beam.

  3. In the Type list, select Curve.

  4. In 3D session, select a curve.

  5. The beam is limited at the curve end points. To change the limits, define the start and end in Limits area.

    1. In the Start box, select Long.-6 plane.
    2. In the End box, select Long.6 plane.

The beam is created.

Note: To get the required orientation,

  • You can use the Swap Ends manipulator, if the limits are not set.
  • You can use Delete , Snap to Reference Plane and Offset if the limits are set.
