Assembly Path Definition

This document explains how to customize Assembly Path Definition settings for Manufacturing Planning.

Select the Assembly Path Definition tab to access options for the Preview Window.

Preview Window

This option allows you to control the visibility of the preview window when you are creating or editing a track in the Assembly Path Definition workbench.

  • If the check box is selected, the preview window is displayed automatically.
  • Otherwise, the preview window is not displayed automatically. However, you can display it at any time by clicking Preview in the Track: Anchor Positioning dialog box.

By default, the check box is not selected.

Product Position

This option determines whether the products are displayed in their design position or as they are defined on the selected operation. A product may, for example, have a dedicated position that is defined in the context of a resource assigned to the selected operation. In that case, the implemented products move to the positions defined in the resource context, and tracks are defined from the resource context positions.

However, if you create a track with the Display Products at Position Defined on the Selected Operation option checked, and later clear the option, the track visualization and the products revert to the design position(s) and are simulated accordingly.

If the design position changes after you create the track, the track visualization and the products move to reflect the new design position.

By default, the check box is selected.

Product Buildup

This option allows you to whether product buildup appears in an operation. Product build up shows you which parts have been assigned to the process up to and including the operation you have selected.

When you create or modify a track on an operation, you can see product buildup according these criteria:

  • Manufacturing assemblies or products that were consumed in the operations previous to the current one are positioned according to the defined position of the current operation. The previously consumed products appear in transparency mode.
  • Manufacturing assemblies or products that are implemented in the current operation are positioned according to their moved position (if they are moved by any previous track in the curent operation). These products are displayed in the standard visualization mode.
  • Manufacturing assemblies or products that not part of the product buildup at the point of the current operation are positioned at their design position, but are hidden.
  • When you edit a track, the manufacturing assemblies or products that are implemented by the current operation are positioned at the start position of the track.

By default, the check box is selected.
