This section shows you the different image formats that can be used in the Realistic Rendering workbench.

The following image formats can be used:

bmp Microsoft Windows Bitmap Format
dds Microsoft Direct Draw Surface
gif Graphics Interchange Format
jpeg JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)
jpg JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group)
pic Apple Macintosh Format
png Portable Network Graphics
psd Photoshop Format
rgb Silicon Graphics 24-bit RGB color
tga Truevision Targa file format.
tif TIFF (Tagged Image File Format)

The tif format supports transparency so that you can see the underlying stickers and geometry in the transparent areas of your image.

More about the Dds Format

The DDS format is the Microsoft Direct Draw Surface format. It is a single format that stores 2 types of images:


  • 2D images for textures and reflections
  • 3D images for reflections only
