Analyzing a Part

You can analyze a part to obtain the information about its attributes, as well as the port attributes.


Before you begin: Open a document that contains the part or parts you want to analyze.
  1. Click Modify in the Compass Toolbar.

  2. Select the part you want to analyze.

    A balloon appears next to the selected part in a low-light mode and the ports are visible.

  3. Move the pointer over Select to view all the options applicable to the selected part.



  4. Click Analyze in the balloon.

    More balloons appear.



  5. Move the pointer over the Select command and click Analyze Item .

    The Analyze Item Data dialog box appears with information about the selected part.

  6. Click Analyze in the balloon to analyze a port.

    The ports on the selected part become visible.

  7. Click the port to analyze.

    The Data dialog box shows information about the selected port.



  8. Select a pipe to analyze and click Analyze .

  9. Click Analyze Item .

    The Analyze Item Data dialog box displays information about the pipe and more options are available in the balloon..

  10. Click the analyze option of your choice.


    • Show Node Data allows you to display information about a node.
    • Show Distances allows you to see the distances between nodes
    • Show Straight Distances allows you to see arc length and angle made at the bends of the pipe.
