About Creating Parts and Equipment

A part is considered a piping (or tubing) part if it is typed using the Fluid Systems Part Design workbench.

Equipment and Part Definition

An equipment is an electro-mechanical device used to assembly connectors and/or shells.

A part is a 3D entity obtained by combining different features. It can be inserted on pipes

Parts that are placed in the design are generally considered standard parts. If the same part is placed in two different locations in the design, then these two parts will have the same part number. What will be different are: instance ID, instance attributes, and instance position. A part can have multiple representations. Each representation is used to meet specific design criteria. For example: envelope representation may be used for interference checking. Single line representation may be used when generating congested plan drawings.

Part Attributes

Once a part is typed using the Fluid Systems Part Design workbench, a set of piping attributes are included as part of the typing process. These attributes, along with the type, make up the definition of a piping part. You cannot remove any of these attributes.

Sub Part type

This attribute further refines the part type. This allows you to search the database based on this specific part type.

Nominal Size

This attribute defines the size of the part. It is used to drive other geometric attributes such as the outside diameter.

End Style

This attribute defines how other parts can be connected to this part. This attribute is used for compatibility checking as well as for selecting the parts that can be properly connected to this part.

Rating

This attribute defines the pressure rating of the part. It impacts the wall thickness definition of the part.

Query Piping Parts

You can search the database for specific piping parts. This can be done using the PLM Advanced Search tool.

You can use the defined sub-type to locate all piping parts. You can also use the piping attributes to filter based on specific values.
