Creating Resource Files

This section describes how to create or customize a resource file such as a standard, a definition table or a design rule table.

  1. Using a spreadsheet program do one of the following:

    • Create a new file and enter column headings and any other fixed data in accordance with the guidelines given in About Resource Files.
    • Open an existing file (one of the sample files).

  2. Enter your piping/tubing data into the standard, definition table or design rule table - refer to About Resource Files for further guidance on the contents of these files.

When customizing an existing table (for example one of the sample tables), you should note that the format of the table should not be changed:

    • All attribute values should be of the correct type (string, integer, etc.).
    • Some attributes must be preceded by a V_; follow the format of the examples given in the sample files.
    • You can add comments to the table by adding additional columns.
    • Do not leave a blank line in the table; table processing stops at a blank line.

  3. When you have created and saved your resource file, use Project Resource Management (PRM) to assign the resource file to the appropriate item in the related resource set table.

  4. In PRM, bind the resource set to a project.
