Exploring Parents

You can explore the parent objects in an Explore or PPR window. In this mode, you can insert the parents of already explored objects above thee objects.

  1. Search for a resource.



  2. Right-click OrgRsc3 and select Explore in PPR. The Navigation window opens with OrgRsc3 under the Resource node in the tree.

  3. Right-click OrgRsc3 in the tree and select Explore With > Explore Parents.



    The Explore Parents immersive dialog box opens. It shows OrgRsc3 resource with its parent OrgRsc1.



  4. In the panel, right-click OrgRsc1 and select Explore With > Explore in PPR .

    OrgRsc1 is added to the Resource node in the tree.



Important:
  • For more information about the Explore Parents immersive dialog box (for example icons for toggle to Instance/Reference mode, display the list of all roots containing the reference, and select a reference from Search Results or Navigation window to display complete parent hierarchy), refer to VPM Navigator User's Guide: Navigating on Data: Exploring Parents.
  • The Explore Parents command is available from the Search Results window, as well as in the Navigation window (as illustrated above).
  • This command can be used to search for, then open the parents of a Product, System, Operation, Resource or Process reference.
