Dealing with Invalid Faces

Invalid faces prevents the computation of the tool path. You can choose to heal them or to ignore them.

Before you begin:
  • The pictures below are only examples, the name of the operation you are working in appears in the messages.
  • If a tool path cannot be computed because of invalid faces, an explicit warning message like this one appears: 
    Several faces of the part to machine or of the context are not valid. 
      Please check the following geometry: 
      \xxxx\yyyyy\zzzz
  • Each invalid face is highlighted in red, with an arrow pointing to it.

  1. An invalid face has been detected:

    Close the main dialog box or select Remove in the contextual menu of the warning label.

  2. Click OK in the Warning box to revert to the main dialog box.

    In the Geometry tab, a message is displayed:

    Ignore invalid faces: No


  3. Either:

    • close the dialog box. When you reopen it, the 
      Ignore invalid faces: No
      is no longer displayed.
    • heal the defective geometry and restart the computation. If it is successful, the message 
      Ignore invalid faces: No
      disappears.
    • ignore the invalid faces. Click the text 
      Ignore invalid faces: No
      It turns to
      Ignore invalid faces: Yes
      and the computation continues.
      Important: Be very careful when you choose to ignore invalid faces. We recommend that you ignore only faces that do not affect the tool path. Otherwise this may lead to defective tool paths.

    The message remains displayed as a warning.
