Creating Time Constraint Links between Operations

You can create a precedence constraint between two operations in the Gantt chart.

1. Click Precedence Link to create a precedence constraint between two operations. Double-click the command if you want to create a number of links in the Gantt chart.

2. Select two operations in the Gantt chart.

   If it is not possible to create a link, a warning is issued explaining the reason.

   This precedence constraint link specifies that the first operation must run before the second one.

   
   
   

   If the resource that owns the selected activity does not have a Process-Resource implement link, a warning is issued.

You can create a start-start synchronization link between two operations in the Gantt chart.

1. Click Start-Start Link to create a start-start synchronization link between two operations.

2. Select two operations in the Gantt chart.

The start-start synchronization link specifies that the two operations must start at the same time.

You can create an end-end synchronization link between two operations in the Gantt chart.

1. Click End-End Link to create an end-end synchronization link between two operations.

2. Select two operations in the Gantt chart.

The end-end synchronization link specifies that the two operations must end at the same time.

You can create an end-start synchronization link between two operations in the Gantt chart.

1. Click End-Start Link to create an end-start synchronization link between two operations.

2. Select two operations in the Gantt chart.

The end-start synchronization link specifies that the first operation must end at the same time as the second operation starts. You can specify a fixed delay between the end of the first and the start of the second operation. The Set Delay in Seconds dialog box appears after you select both operations.

A tooltip is displayed with the current delay value, when you move the cursor over the arrow representation in the Gantt chart.

After the link is created, you can change the delay by double-clicking the arrow representation of the link in the Gantt chart.

You can create a previous cycle constraint between two operations in different cycles in the Gantt chart.

1. Click Previous Cycle Link to create a previous cycle constraint between two operations in different cycles.

2. Select two operations that are in different cycles in the Gantt chart.

The previous cycle link specifies that there is a link between an operation that runs in a previous cycle and an operation that runs in a later cycle.

You can delete a time constraint link between two operations in the Gantt chart.

1. Right-click the arrow representing the time constraint link in the Gantt chart.

2. Select Delete Constraint in the contextual menu.

   The time constraint link is deleted.
