Manufacturing System Definition in a Nutshell

Manufacturing System Definition provides tools for authoring manufacturing systems, system structure, and manual balancing of processes between systems. It includes the following capabilities:


  • Manage system structures
  • Edit properties of system reference/instance
  • Author and view system structure, and create links in the Live System Editor
  • Assign processes to systems (Implement link)
  • View and author (Drag and Drop) assigned product data (assemblies, parts) and process data in the Live System Editor
  • Generate system structure from process structure
  • Manufacturing System Gantt chart with authoring of operations and adding constraints between operations
  • Drag and drop of processes, parts, and operations between systems
  • Assign parts and fasteners to systems via the System Assignment Assistant
  • System verification

Before Reading this Guide

Before reading this guide, you should be familiar with basic Version 6 concepts such as document windows, standard and view toolbars. Therefore, we recommend that you read the Infrastructure User's Guide that describes generic capabilities common to all Version 6 products. It also describes the general layout of Version 6 and the interoperability between workbenches.
