Snapping a Resource to a Drafting Element

You can snap resources to selected 2D drawing positions. You can also position resources directly from a Catalog Browser on to a 2D drawing.

Snap a Resource to a Drafting Element

You can snap a resource to a position on a 2D drawing. A circular green manipulator helps you to locate the desired position.

  1. Open the document file and start the Resource Definition & Layout workbench.

  2. Click Snap Resource to Drafting Elements .

  3. Select the resource which needs to be positioned.

  4. Select the location on the 2D drawing where you want to position the resource.

    A circular green manipulator appears, which lets you select the position of the drawing.



    The resource moves to the selected location: the center of the base of the resource's bounding box is snapped to the place you selected on the drawing.

Snap a Resource from Catalog to a Drafting Element

You can select a resource from a catalog and snap it to a position on a 2D drawing. A circular green manipulator helps you to locate the desired position.

  1. Open the document file and start the Resource Definition & Layout workbench.

  2. Open the Catalog Browser.

  3. Select a resource and insert it into the editor.

  4. Click Snap Resource to Drafting Elements .

  5. Select the location on the 2D drawing where you want to position the resource.

    A circular green manipulator appears, which lets you select the position of the drawing (see task above).

    The resource moves to the selected location: the center of the base of the resource's bounding box is snapped to the place you selected on the drawing.
