Correcting an Invalid Resource Structure

You can correct an invalid resource structure by first generating a 'clone' resource from the existing resource, changing the resource type and any other attribute values, and replacing all instances of the invalid resource by the clone resource.

Before you begin: Open the Resource Definition & Layout workbench.

About Resources
  1. Select Clone as New Resource .

The Clone a Resource dialog box appears.

  2. Select the invalid resource in the tree.

The red status light is displayed in the dialog box (under the Name field).

Note: This resource must be already saved in the database.

  3. In the Main type combo of the dialog box, select the desired resource type.

The proposed types are the valid resource types that are available in the session.

When you choose a valid resource type, the status light changes to green in the dialog box.

  4. Click OK then propagate your changes.

The modified attributes (including the main resource type) are written on the cloned resource and all instances of the original invalid resource are replaced.
