Defining Mount Points

You can create workpiece, tool mount, head mount, and head base points on a NC resource.

This task shows you how to:

Define Workpiece Mount Point

You can create workpiece mount points on a NC resource using the Define Workpiece Mount Point command.

  1. Click Define Workpiece Mount Point on the Machine Building toolbar, and select the NC Resource node from the resource tree.

    The Define Workpiece Mount Point dialog box appears.

  2. Modify the Name of the mount point.

  3. Select the Exposed Object to be of type Axis.

    Important: The Exposed Axis System of a mount point has to be under the Machining Part (in this case Machine Bed) which is part of the Kinematic Chain, as shown below.

  4. Click OK to create the workpiece mount point.

    This creates a node with the workpiece mount point name in the Product Tree, under the Publications node.

Define Tool Mount Point

You can create tool mount points on a NC resource using the Define Tool Mount Point command.

  1. Click Define Tool Mount Point on the Machine Building toolbar, and select desired node from the resource tree.

    TheDefine Tool Mount Point dialog box appears.

  2. Modify the Name of the tool mount point.

  3. Select the Exposed Object to be of type Axis.

    Important: The Exposed Axis System of a mount point has to be under the Machining Part (in this case Machine Bed) which is part of the Kinematic Chain.

  4. Click OK to create the tool mount point.

    This creates a node with the tool mount point name in the Product Tree, under the Publications node.

Define Head Mount Point

You can create head mount points on a NC resource using the Define Head Mount Point command.

  1. Click Define Head Mount Point on the Machine Building toolbar, and select desired node from the resource tree.

    TheDefine Head Mount Point dialog box appears.

  2. Modify the Name of the head mount point.

  3. Select the Exposed Object to be of type Axis.

    Important: The Exposed Axis System of a mount point has to be under the Machining Part (in this case Machine Bed) which is part of the Kinematic Chain.

Define Head Base Point

You can create head base points on a NC resource using the Define Head Base Point command.

  1. Click Define Head Base Point on the Machine Building toolbar, and select desired node from the resource tree.

    TheDefine Head Baset Point dialog box appears.

  2. Modify the Name of the head base point.

  3. Select the Exposed Object to be of type Axis.

    Important: The Exposed Axis System of a mount point has to be under the Machining Part (in this case Machine Bed) which is part of the Kinematic Chain.
