Selecting the Working Mode

You can select and use the three working modes available for Rule Bases and PLM Rule Sets. If you select Whole Objects, the rule base works on all the objects that are in session (even the objects inside the representation). If you select Occurrence Objects, the rule base works on occurrences (positionned instances) for clash rules for example. With PLM Objects, the rule base only works on PLM Objects and their attributes

Select the Working Mode for Rule Bases

You can select the working mode for Rule Bases.

  1. Right-click the Rule Base in the specification tree.

  2. Select RuleBase.1 object > Settings.

  3. Select the mode in the Working Mode scrolling list and click OK when done.

    You can also right-click the Rule Base and select Edit > Properties and select the working mode in the Working Mode scrolling list.

    Important: Rule Bases created before this level work properly. Their default value is Whole Objects Navigation. You cannot change their working modes.

Select the Working Mode for Rule Sets

You can select the working mode for Rule Sets.

  1. When creating the PLM Rule Set, select PLM Access > New > RuleEntity > RuleSet. Click Next.

  2. Click the RuleSet information tab and select the working mode in the Working Mode scrolling list. Click Finish.

    When working with existing PLM Rule Sets, select the PLM Rule Set in the KnowHow Authoring window, and select Edit > Properties. Then select the working mode in the Working Mode scrolling list.

    Important: You cannot modify the working mode of a LinkedRuleBase. The mode of those rule bases is inherited from the RuleSet that imported to create the LinkedRuleBase.
