Overview

A Component Family is a concept that enables to generate and manage, in an easy and friendly manner, a set of physical parts or assemblies references, all derived from a generic parametric definition altered for each element thanks to a table of values. The generation can be done on-demand, and the family elements are provided to the End-User thanks to a catalog application. This guide is intended for users who need to become quickly familiar with the Component Family concept. This overview provides the following information:

Component Family in a Nutshell

This tools is used to:

  • Define and manage families of standard parts (bolts, screws, balls bearings, etc.) provided by third parties, in order to make them available to the community building products on top of them.


  • Define and manage the variability and standardization of home made components.
