Overview

Kinematics Simulation is a product that lets you simulate the motion of assembly mechanisms in different configurations.

TheKinematics Simulation User's Guide is intended for users who need to become quickly familiar with the application.

Kinematics Simulation in a Nutshell

Kinematics Simulation provides a set of tools to simulate the motions of assembly mechanisms. You can use this product to:

  • Set up time-based simulations.
  • Create time-based excitations.
  • Preview and run simulations.
  • View animations of the simulation results and dynamically search for interferences between mechanism components.
  • Generate data from the results animations, including tabular measurement reports, geometric traces and swept volumes, and snapshots of the mechanisms at various stages of a simulation.

Before Reading this Guide

Before reading this guide, you should be familiar with basic Version 6 concepts such as document windows, standard and view toolbars. Therefore, we recommend that you read the Infrastructure User's Guide that describes generic capabilities common to all Version 6 products. It also describes the general layout of Version 6 and the interoperability between workbenches.

You may also like to read the following complementary product guides, for which the appropriate license is required:

  • Assembly Design User's Guide
  • Mechanism Design User's Guide
  • Simulation Navigator User's Guide

Getting the Most Out of this Guide

To get the most out of this guide, we suggest that you start reading and performing the step-by-step user tasks, which cover all product functionalities.

The Interface Description section describes the commands that are specific to the Kinematics Simulation product.
