Note:
When exiting the created human interface is hidden. A
human interface only becomes visible when you are editing a human
interface or creating an action and looking for a target human
interface.
Human Interface Editor
- Name
- In the edit panel a name's editor is where you can modify the name
of the human interface.
A default name is automatically selected, or you can type in a name.
- Type
- Select the type, sphere, disk, cylinder, and if it is orientated.
So example if you want to place a interface on cylinder you would
select the cylinder and then select the orientation. This shows you
a black line showing the orientation. Select the compass to rotate
accordingly so the hand is placed on the cylinder/glass correctly.
- Dimensions
- This is where you can set the dimensions, and if required the height depending on the type of human interface.
Edit the dimensions directly in the dialog
box:
- change the radius of a sphere
- change the radius of a disk
- change the radius and the height of a cylinder
Disks and cylinders may have a preferred orientation, which is
represented by a line. This is useful when applying a
skill.
- Skills
A preferred skill can be saved on a Human Interface. A preferred
skill is not mandatory. It is very useful for specifying which the
most likely skill to be applied is (for instance, contact with foot
on a pedal).
The options in the
Preferred skill are as follows:
- No skill
- No skill required
- Reach with hand
- This reaches with the closest hand to the human interface.
- Reach with index
- This reaches with the index to the human interface.
- Grasp with hand
- This grasps with the manikin hand to the human interface.
- Pinch with hand
- Pinches with a hand
- Reach with foot
- Reaches with a foot
- Look at
- Looks at the human interface
- Sit
- The manikin sits.

OK, Apply, Close
- OK
-
This accepts the settings and closes the dialog box.
- Apply
This button is to confirm that the
current settings are to be saved on the current human
interface. There are two ways of positioning the human interface with
respect to the selected product:
- The compass is always automatically snapped to the human interface,
so it is possible to move and rotate the human interface.
An automatic recognition feature is also provided in order to
facilitate the selection of planes and lines.
- Clicking on a plane
or on a line automatically snaps the human interface to that
location.
These two modes can be combined for greater use of
positioning.
First you can snap quickly the human interface to a given
geometrical element, and then the position can be fine-tuned (for
instance when there is an offset) with the compass.
It is then possible to create or edit one
human interface, and switch to the creation or edition of another
one, keeping the settings of the previous one by clicking on Apply
before the switch,
Leaving the command does an automatic Apply
on
the latest selected human interface.
- Close
This button is to close the dialog box, without saving.
