Respecification of Geometries in Semantic Annotation

This reference describes how specific geometries are considered when creating a semantic annotation.

Important:

When an Intersect feature has been used for generating an edge, the resulting feature is not considered as a plane or cylinder. You should use the Split feature instead of Intersect feature to generate a hole in the surface.

Edge as a Plane


  • An edge resulting of a sketch line projection or extrusion on a surface along the normal of the sketch: the annotation is created on the plane defined by the line orientation and the projection or extrusion vector.
  • An edge resulting of a Generative Shape Design line projection or extrusion on a surface feature along the perpendicular direction to the line: the annotation is created on the plane defined by the line orientation and the projection or extrusion vector.
  • A line in a sketch: the annotation is created on the plane defined by the line orientation and the normal of the sketch.

Edge as a Cylinder


  • An edge resulting of a sketch circle projection or extrusion on a surface along to the normal of the sketch: the annotation is created on the cylinder defined by the circle and the projection or extrusion vector.
  • An edge resulting of a Generative Shape Design circle projection or extrusion on a surface feature along the perpendicular direction to the circle plane: the annotation is created on the cylinder defined by the circle and the projection or extrusion vector.
  • A circle or an arc of circle in a sketch: the annotation is created on the cylinder defined by the circle or the arc of circle and the normal of the sketch.
