Welcome to the Folder Management User's Guide. This overview provides the following information:

Folder Management in a Nutshell

This book is intended for the user who needs to become familiar with Folder Management functionalities. The Folder Management Guide has been designed to show you how to manage folders, references and representations in a folder structure. There are several ways of managing folders and this book aims at illustrating the several stages of creation, edition, etc... you may encounter. Topics include:


  • Folder Management - classifying PLM objects as easily as documents in a file system (i.e. MS Windows).
  • Folder concepts familiar to most users.
  • Navigating in three-dimensions (3D) and instantly recognize what you see.
  • Editing data relationship structure.
  • New, insert, cut/copy/paste.
  • Dragging and dropping.
  • Replace and delete .
  • Duplicate

Note:


  • Folder edition is always saved in the system immediately without the need to propagate. Undo/redo options are not available when manipulating folder.
  • Folders do not have a maturity graph and the Change Maturity command will not work on either folder or root folders.

Before Reading this Guide

All users should be familiar with basic Infrastructure concepts such as document windows, standard and view toolbars as well as the 3D compass. Prior to reading this book, we therefore recommend that you read the Infrastructure User's Guide.
