This document provides information on how Electrical Library features are migrated in this release.

Devices
Electrical behavior added to reference parts Imported
Electrical behavior added to reference products, except splices (see below) Not imported; only reference parts are considered electrical devices. V5 electrified products are imported as geometry.

Workaround: Run the Tools > Finalize Data import command in V6 after importing splices.

Splice reference product Imported

Splice attributes (Length and Equivalence thickness) are imported.

Electrical behavior added to part instances Not imported; only reference parts are considered electrical devices.
Connection points
All connection points, except terminations Imported
Terminations Imported as cavities.

Note: Terminations on Contacts are not imported, as a Cavity is not allowed on Contact. See Electrical Library > Adding Connection Points > Adding a Cavity.

Reference retainer parts
Reference support parts Imported when the supports are created or edited after V5R17.
Reference retainer parts Imported
Reference adapter parts Imported as regular (non-adaptative) supports.
Protective coverings
Reference parts Imported as features in the branch.
External protective covering is the reference of a CATPart Not imported.

Workaround: Run the Tools > Finalize Data Import command in V6 after importing external protective coverings. Therefore, external protective coverings that cover more than one branch are migrated. Only the V5 internal protective coverings are also handled since they cannot cover more than one branch. At the end of the post-process:

  • Temporary external protective coverings of Mechanical Product type will be deleted.
  • External protective covering is converted into 2 internal V6 protective coverings.

Internal protective covering is the reference of a CATProduct. It is aggregated under the body Protections in the part of a multibranchable. Imported.
Regular protective covering attributes

Imported as protective coverings.

See Importing Electrical Data.
Adjust relation on regular protective coverings Not imported
Light protective coverings (V5R18 onwards) and Adjust relation between them Imported
External tape can cover more than one branch and is adjusted to the segment with the maximum diameter of all segments covered Imported.

An external tape is imported in each internal tape protection that exist. Since these protections are independent from each other, they will be adjusted to the segment with the maximum diameter on the branch they cover.

All segments are covered by the original external tape.

Similarly, if the V5 external tape is covered by another protection, its V6 internal protections will be adjusted to the same protection, if it is located under the same harness bundle.

Elec_Text attribute on Protective Coverings Imported
Instances
Instances of reference parts where electrical behavior added to reference part Imported; reference designator replaced by instance name.
Instances of reference products containing instances of reference parts Partially imported.

Reference designator to instance name mapping when within an assembly may lead to loss of information because instance names are unique within the assembly only.

Splice instance Link between splice and end of segment is imported.

Splice position is imported.

Electrical connections
Between devices that are geometrically connected with mechanical constraint Imported
Between devices that are not geometrically connected Imported but the electrical link is lost.
