Apply Thermal Conditions

Thermal conditions represent the sources of steady or changing temperatures on the surfaces of your part. These conditions may be the result of interactions with other components in an assembly, or they may simply represent environmental heating or cooling effects. The simulation determines how heat from these thermal conditions flows through your part, eventually arriving at a steady distribution of temperatures throughout the part.

Simulation Features

The following simulation features can be defined in the Apply Thermal Conditions action:

Temperatures
A temperature defines an unchanging temperature value on a surface.
Heat Flux
A heat flux defines a flow of heat into or out of a surface.

Status Criteria

You must apply at least one temperature on your part to complete the Apply Thermal Conditions action. However, additional temperatures or heat fluxes are usually necessary to perform a meaningful simulation. Applying a heat flux without any temperature definitions is not sufficient to complete the action.
