Apply Restraints

Restraints are used to restrict the motion of certain surfaces in your model. The restraint typically represents a connection between the model and its larger environment. Restraints are necessary to resist the loads that are applied to the model.

Simulation Features

The following simulation features can be defined in the Apply Restraints action:

Ball Joints
A ball joint defines a fixed center of rotation for a surface.
Clamps
A clamp prevents a surface from moving or deforming.

Status Criteria

You must apply at least one restraint to complete the Apply Restraints action. However, a single restraint is not necessarily sufficient to allow the model to resist the loads that are applied to it; see Restraints and Rigid Body Motion for more details.
