Apply Restraints

Restraints restrict the motion of certain surfaces in your part. A restraint typically represents a connection or interaction between the part and its larger environment. Restraints impact the mode shapes and associated natural frequencies of the part.

Simulation Features

The following simulation features can be defined in the Apply Restraints action:

Ball Joints
A ball joint defines a center of rotation for a surface.
Clamps
A clamp prevents a surface from moving or deforming.

Status Criteria

Applying restraints is optional in a frequency simulation; you can determine the natural frequencies of a completely unrestrained model.

If you do apply restraints to your model, the Apply Restraints action status will appear complete when at least one restraint has been applied to the model.
