Generating and Applying Normal Map and Texture

You can generate and apply a Normal Map and a texture on a simplified 3D Shape representing a complex 3D Shape.

Using a simplified shape is useful when the complex 3D Shape solicits graphical resources, and the more the simplified 3D Shape is made of planar surfaces, the less graphical resources will be solicited.

In addition the Normal Map technology allows you to show off the complex 3D Shape shapes when you move or rotate the simplified 3D Shape.

The simplified 3D Shape usage is limited to visualization only.

Before you begin: Open a simplified 3D Shape.

  1. Click Normal Map and Texture .

The Object Selection dialog box appears.

  2. Select the complex 3D Shape and click OK.

The complex 3D Shape looks like this:

The complex 3D Shape image has been generated and applied on the simplified 3D Shape.

  3. When you rotate the simplified 3D Shape you can see shadow and reflection modifications according to the Normal Map technology.
