Creating Shortcut on Chapters
This task shows you how to create chapter shortcuts.
In the Folder Editor, select a folder (root or child) under which you want to insert a chapter.
Note:
Shortcut can be applied on Engineering and Enterprise Chapters.
Right-click and select Insert > Insert Existing Reference . The Object Selection dialog box appears.
Enter a search string in the box and click Search or Advanced Search to search with greater precision. For more information about Advanced Search, see Advanced Search.
Choose a Chapter from the search results and click OK.
The selected chapter is displayed under the Folder. Right-click and select Expand All . The items contained in each catalog/chapter is displayed.
You can also explore a chapter in Catalog Editor by using the Explore command.
Browsing of Shortcut on Chapter through Catalog Browser
This task shows you how to browse chapter shortcut using the Catalog Browser.
Select and open one of the items in VPM Editor. Click Catalog Browser .
The Object Selection dialog box appears.
Enter a search string in the box and click Search or Advanced Search to search with greater precision. The search results appear.

Select the folder from the search results and click OK.
The chosen Folder is displayed in the immersive Catalog Browser.
Defining Shortcut on Chapter Behavior
This section helps you to understand the behavior of shortcut functionality on Chapter.

The Shortcut on Chapter functionality behaves accordingly:
- A same chapter can be a shortcut in two different folders, where these folders are a part of the same folder structure.
- Two chapters from a same catalog can be shortcut into a single folder. For example, Chapter_Operation and Chapter_System belong to System and Operation Catalog:
- You can transfer the ownership of the chapter shortcuts, if you select the Folder Content in the Transfer Ownership dialog box. But, the items under the chapter cannot be transferred.

- You can perform Copy, Cut and Paste on chapter shortcuts.
Note:
It is not possible to perform Paste Structure only and Paste with whole duplication. An error message appears.
- You can rename a chapter in Folder Editor. The modifications done will be reflected in all Folders referencing the Chapter.
- All chapter specific and folder commands are available for Chapter shortcuts and items respectively.
