Cutting and Pasting Objects

You can select objects to remove them then paste this selection to the location of your choice. Application workbenches offer a variety of specific cutting and pasting scenarios.

Before you begin: Contextual features such as fillets or extracts cannot be pasted if their parent element (edge, face, etc.) has not been previously selected.
  1. Select the objects you want to cut.

  2. Click Cut in the Standard toolbar:

This places what you cut in the clipboard.

Tip: To cut an object, you can also:
    • Select Edit > Cut
    • Press Ctrl+X
    • Right-click then select Cut
    • In the geometry area or the specification tree, drag the selection (although not a graphical cut, this is equivalent to the cut operation).

  3. Optional: When cutting new, modified or pointed objects, a warning message gives you a list of unsaved objects that will be removed and prompts you to click:

    • Yes if you want to edit modified objects. This opens in a new window each object listed in the warning message.
    • No if you do not want to keep the modifications.
    • Cancel to cancel the cut operation and restore the previous state.

"Pointed objects" implies directly pointed objects as well as objects indirectly pointed by an object about to be cut. For instance, when cutting a sub-element, all the modified representations included in this sub-element will be listed in the warning.

Warning: Objects may not be listed in the warning message if they have been edited in another editor or if they are pointed by another object in another editor.

  4. Click Paste in the Standard toolbar.

Tip: To paste an object, you can also:
    • Select Edit > Paste
    • Press Ctrl+V
    • Right-click then select Paste
    • In the geometry area or the specification tree, drop what you are dragging (see above).

The object is pasted.
