Propagation in Editability Context

Editability lets you control the modifications that can be made to objects by disabling commands and visualization modes. This has an impact on the propagation process.

Editability is activated through the Display a warning if read-only data is edited check box available in the settings.

When this check box is selected, objects switched to edition mode can be locked for modification purposes.

For instance, if you open the following product with the Display a warning if read-only data is edited check box selected, you can see that all objects are in read-only mode (and therefore cannot be modified):



When you access the Propagate dialog box, no object is to be propagated because the whole structure is in read-only mode:



When you switch one object to edition mode using Edit > Editability > Switch to edition... then you modify the object:



When you re-access the Propagate dialog box, you are now allowed to propagate the modified object because it is no longer locked:
