Importing Sheetmetal File-Based Design

You can import and store in V6 Sheetmetal Design Tables and parts referencing Design Tables created in V5.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: When you want to import Sheetmetal parts created in V5 referencing Design Tables including sub-tables, the paths leading to sub-tables need to be translated into V6 valid PLM_ExternalIDs.

Import using method 1: Launch FBDI Error

As features created in Sheetmetal Design and Sheetmetal Production workbenches are no more supported in V6, you need to modify them before opening them in V6.

The administrator has to select a way to import the V5 sheetmetal deprecated features into V6.

  1. Select the Launch FDBI Error option to import the V5 sheetmetal deprecated features

  2. Use an As Result option of the Paste Special... command.

  3. Click Recognize in the Walls toolbar.

  4. Save your new part. Your part is saved according to the elements recognized.

  5. You can now import your part into your V6 workbench.

Import using method 2: Keep folded geometry, delete only deprecated sheetmetal features

You can import using method 2. You keep folded geometry and delete only deprecated sheetmetal features.

  • Select the Keep folded geometry, delete only deprecated sheet metal features option to import the parts containing deprecated features that are automatically replaced by solid features during the FBDI.
