CAA Data File-based design Import

This section describes the CAA Data File-based design Import. CAA partners define features and containers of their own data model. In FBDI, it is necessary to provide an implementation for each kind of containers to be able to import the files that contain them in CATIA V6.

This document explains the way CAA partners will be able to define how their containers have to be imported.

Defining the Import Method

CAA partners can define how their containers are imported in V6. For each container, they can choose to import it "As is" or to "Remove" it from the V6 component.

CAA partners create XML files that will be sent to users. These XML files should be saved in the same directory, defined in Tools > Options > FBDI > FBDI General. For more information, please refer to the Settings Customization Guide.

Import of CAA containers will be done at the same time as the import of the documents to which they belong accordingly to the migration mode defined in the XML file.

If you have documents with CAA data, but you do not have the corresponding XML file, the CAA data migration will not be possible and an error message will appear: see the list of Infrastructure errors in Infrastructure Errors detected by FBDI. This message also appears if you do not have checked the option Activate the CAA Data Import, in Tools > Options > FBDI > FBDI General.

If you do not have the XML file of your partner, you can select the Remove CAA Containers which can not be imported check box. When import is run once the option is selected, a warning message is displayed for the CAA containers removed during the import and the import is allowed. See XML files Directory for CAA data for more details.
