About Light Import

Light import is used to import only the necessary core data of a document thereby ignoring lesser essential data.Light import is useful when there are some documents that cannot be imported using standard FBDI import.

FBDI Light import is also a method to ascertain the core integrity of the data before a standard FBDI import is used for a full and complete import.

Only CATProduct documents are imported using Light import. For the remaining document types, FBDI Standard import method is used. In these CATProduct documents, only the product structure is imported. Other data are removed or ignored during the Light import.

When a CATProduct document is imported using Light import,


  • The product features of the product structure are migrated. It concerns the following features
    • Product References, Instances, Components. The elements that are migrated are,
      • The V5 properties to value the PLM attributes
      • Graphic properties (hide/show, color)
      • The position of the instance
  • Publications (geometry, parameter..): If the pointed parameter is not migrated, then the publication will be empty.
  • The contextual links pointing the CATProduct as a context will also be migrated

Some elements that are not migrated are,

  • The flexibility and the activate/deactivate status of the product features.
  • Other features of the Product structure that are not listed above. For example, features such as constraint, assembly feature and so on.
  • Applicative data, for example, DMU and so on.
