Enriching an Existing Engineering Connection

You can enrich an engineering connection. When you are selecting two representations where an existing engineering connection is already defined, you can enrich the existing engineering connection or create a new one.

Before you begin: Open an existing product containing an engineering connection.

About Engineering Connections
  1. Double-click an existing engineering connection in the specification tree.

The Engineering Connection Definition dialog box appears containing one constraint.

  2. Click Cancel in the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box.

  3. Click Engineering Connection .

An empty Engineering Connection Definition dialog box appears.

  4. Select two lines to be connected in the same components as those involved in the engineering connection.

Since an engineering connection already exists between the selected components, the Engineering Connection Selection dialog box appears and displays a list of existing engineering connections. Choosing New connection allows you to create a new engineering connection.

    Note:

The Engineering Connection Definition dialog box disappears during this operation.

    Important:

On the one hand, reusing the existing engineering connection allows you to improve and simplify the PLM update, on the other hand creating a new engineering connection can help you try another solution when the mechanism is over-constrained.

  5. Click OK in the Engineering Connection Selection dialog box.

The coincidence constraint has been added to the engineering connection in the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box.

  6. Click OK in the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box.

    Important:

While the Positioning Mode option is on , the modified engineering connection will be deleted although you click OK in the Engineering Connection Definition dialog box.
