Creating a Derived Representation

You can create a derived representation.

Important:

  • The derived representation stores, using a global import in an unique 3D Shape representation, geometries contained in an assembly product like PartBodies, Bodies, etc.
  • Features in this unique 3D Shape representation can be edited or deleted.
  • Modifications in representations of an assembly are not updated in its derived representation.

Before you begin: Open an existing assembly.
  1. Click Derived Representation .

The Derived Representation Definition dialog box appears.

  2. Select New 3D Shape option.

The 3D Shape / Representation DS dialog box appears.

  3. Type Representation_Derived as representation name and click Finish in the 3D Shape / Representation DS dialog box.

The Representation_Derived appears in the Specification Tree.

  4. Click OK in the Derived Representation Definition dialog box.

    • The Derived Representation progress bar appears.
    • The Representation_Derived is filled with assembly shape content.

    • Specifications of the derived representation are under the Derived Representation Specification node in the Specification Tree.

Important: The green diamond as contextual mask appears on the 3D Shape representation icon in the Specification Tree , indicating that the 3D Shape is involved in context minimal in the assembly.

  5. Click the Update All in order to update the derived representation.
